Jefferson 500

The Jefferson 500 was established as a celebration of the great long distance races from motorsports past. Summit Point Raceway retains the charm of racing circuits from the 50's and 60's, and is the perfect facility to experience what it must have been like to compete back in the day! The Jefferson 500 is sanctioned by the Vintage Racer Group (VRG).

Summit Point Motorsports Park and the Vintage Racers Group want to welcome everyone to this years running of the Jefferson 500.  It gives me great pleasure to once again be the race chairman of this vibrant and growing vintage event.

It would take me quite a while to acknowledge all the fine folks that have helped make this event happen. You know who you are and I truly, sincerely thank each of you for your efforts. And again I will try my best to make this the most fun and cost affective vintage event in the country.

We lost our dear friend and fellow racer, Bill Scott. Once again we will not gathering to mourn Bill, but to celebrate his incredible life and his many contributions to the sport that he loved. He would want us all to be safe, have fun and enjoy “his little spot” here in West Virginia, that now has over 40 years of road racing excellence.

We all need to thank Barbara Scott and Jens Scott for allowing us to keep this very special gathering of old friends, doing “our thing” here at Summit Point Motorsports Park. The staff has always been extremely supportive of our event and we also owe them a “thank you” when we see any of them.

Any comments and thoughts, to improve the Jefferson 500 are always welcome as I consider this event to be yours and a work in progress.
